Back to the Future

"As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly". (Proverbs 26:11)

Wouldn't it be cool to have a time machine like Marty McFly from the movie "Back to the Future"? Marty was able with his time machine to change his future by talking to himself in the past. Altering dumb decisions he had made was as simple as going back to when the decision was made and counseling himself 10 years earlier.

What would you change? We all have something we wish we could get a do over on. All of us have past, "what the #$%^ was I thinking" moments. Well, so much for the day dream. Your past decisions are locked in time and decisions and past actions can't be reversed. Sorry to be Debbie Downer but that's just the truth or is it?

While, none of us can go back and change the past we can learn valuable lessons from it. We cannot counsel ourselves in the past but we can allow our past to speak to and breathe life into our present. God calls this repentance. Repentance is a change of heart and mind. It is a turning of heart toward God and away from dumb stuff. Allow God to restore your heart, relationship with Him and others. Repent don't repeat! Accept the forgiveness, mercy and restoration of God.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
